I just read that an amazing number of people are unable to rise from a straight-backed, hard seat chair without using their hands.

I can manage--just barely.

Can you?

Yes, easily.

And I am not fit.

Yup. No problem doing it. I can also fall off of the same type chair with relative ease. I suspect the two aren't connected though.

I simply roll off the edge of the chair, crawl to front porch, and work my way to the stairs. Then, by pivoting around and extending my legs over the first step, I can manage to stand with relative ease.

I am not fit, and i need a derrick, but i'd rather sit in a straight-back chair than any other variety.

Why would anyone call this a fitness test?
I believe that 90% of us can do it; only the very feeble would flunk this 'test'.

Well, maybe it is not really a fitness test. Rather a test to see if you are still alive.

where do you put your hands?
if i put them under my arms, it knocks me a bit off balance, but I can do it.

If I have my hands right out in front of me, just dont grab anything, no problem.

It is just a task of leaning forward and gettin me 'rump in the air. Very Happy

I think this whole thing is a devious idea concocted by Noddy so she can amuse herself at the thought of so many A2Kers lifting themselves easily out of their chairs with puzzled looks on their faces.
