a friend of a friend collects old phones. All in working order, and all hooked up, except the wall phone with the crank. apparently Ma Bell (another arcane term) would be really tee'd off if he sent that much of a voltage back up the line.

Call for Phillip Morris! (or is it Call for Altria?)

SealPoet- If you look at the figures, I don't think that anybody would want to call for Altria now! Sad

How 'bout L.S.M.F.T.?

Merry Andrew- How about the movie, Butterfield 8? Wouldn't mean anything to the young people.

O.K. I won't keep everyone guessing. Years ago, phone #s had names, instead of all numbers. Butterfeld 8 would be dialed BU8...... Certain names had a lot of panache. Butterfield was a phone number from the upper east side of Manhattan, which was and is a very wealthy and elegant area, and was considered a very prestigious number to have.
