Male Brothels?

Yep, far as I know. That was the idea behind it, anyway.


You'd have no choice. I think you have to go out onto the street where the illegal street prostitutes, mostly drug addicts, are, to find any desparate enough to accept doing it without. The ones in the establishments, the legal, red light district ones, wouldnt give you the light of day. (There's classes even among prostitutes, I gather.)

Well, so. If you were a Brothel mama or daddy (? what's the male counterpoint?)- who would you select into your lineup? if you'd have all celebrities available, that is. And non-celebrities. Who is most 'spongeworthy'? (as Elaine from Seinfeld would put it. Sponge being a contraceptive that went off the market, so Elaine had to guard her dwindling stock and sleep only with the carefully selected few)

But were the services geared primarily to women or to men?

Male, I think.

This is what I'm saying.

An escort service is one thing, where you have the illusion of a 'date' but in a brothel, there's no time for illusion, it's just straight-out sex. According to sexologists, most women aren't apt to want or even enjoy a faceless, nameless screw with no talk, no sharing, no intimacy so paying for it, for the majority of women, seems out of the question. Or is it? Have things changed? Has the female species evolved to such a place? Maybe Heidi Fleisch, who does know about these kinds of things, is onto something.

Everyone hits a dry patch every now and then. Even cute girls.

Actually most of the modern research on sexuality seems to point towards women being every bit as horny as men, physically anyway, but having that overlaid with a bunch of social filters that makes them think they aren't/ shouldn't be.

So are these social filters still in place?

For some people, fer sure. The movement seems to be towwards women owning their sexuality more though (think "Sex and the City"), and I could easily imagine there being enough of those people (in addition to other niches) that the business would be viable.

The most clear parallel seems to be porn -- for years it was thought that it was only directed at men because only men were interested, but now porn directed at women is the biggest-growing share of the market.

Personally, I couldn't quite imagine doing it, for many of the reasons dlowan mentions (and for many of the reasons that guys I've talked to can't imagine visiting a female hooker). The stuff about why is he doing this, really, was he the victim of sexual abuse at some point, does he really enjoy this, does he have a relationship outside of this, how can the relationship survive if so, etc., etc.
