OssoB - how many companies did you get quotes from? If you get at least 3 majors, and let them know they're in competition, and give them some leeway in terms of delivery date, you can usually get a break of about 30 - 40% from the initial estimate. Ask me how I know. Or don't.

I am truly startled that mailing books would be any degree less expensive than moving by transport.

I got two majors, the ones with bases here; close estimates, and no time for more now. (Remember, I'm in a semi-isolated place). The estimates aren't really out of line relative to what it took to get my stuff up here in the first place from LA.
