I am looking to import 300 units of a photography light stand, the weight of each unit is approx. 6lbs. I currently have a retailer who I purchase these units from then resell at a $30 profit margin.
I found a manufacturer in China, who says they can make these stands and ship me samples. Given the world is perfect my profit per piece would raise to $80.
I have done as much research as I can on this company, they have a website, have been in business since 1993, they are a photography supply company.
So on the surface things seem legit. They are willing to send 2 samples for a price, then apply that to my full order
Their payment requirments are 1/3 up front 1/3 when shpped, balance when delivered.
They WILL NOT DO A L/C but their bank "Ningbo, Bank of China" will accept a credit card. If I were to pay via CC and did get scammed, I am thinking I would have a better chance of getting my money back?
I have read a lot about using the customs brokers and freight forwarders and am convinced I should do that too..as this is my first importing venture.
Just wondering if there is any other useful information anyone can provide me before I make the plunge???
Thank you.
