Beautiful snow shadows, neko.

Lovely.

And here's tall bearded iris Shipshape.

This year's been a good one for my irises, and I'll
divide some next month.

For the proximity of the birdfeeder, I've named this
pine Torimatsu.

It serves as a waiting lobby during feeding time. Picture will enlarge.

The flowering crab seems anxious for spring to come around, as
shown by an abundance of flower buds which developed since the
onset of winter weather. They seem to grow larger with each cold-
to-mild temperature swing. Stay tuned for updates.

Yep -- here's a couple of summers ago when we had a bit more sun in the Northern exposure patio area. We done some pruning as it was getting really dark back there will the tropical overgrowth.

I'll upload some pics to Google Picasa and post them.

Hey, neat botanical contrast; what's your location ? The ficus & palm (Sago?) rule out a boreal setting. Like, no frost...

Over the years,
I've been pruning and Trimming this species apple in an effort
to train it to a bonsai form.

This winter view shows where cuts have been made to bush
out the limbs and branches. The net effect, however, is
more of a weeping, or cascading, effect due pimarily from
the tree's growth character, which, it slowly dawned on me, is
very much different from that of a pine.

Up close, that lower branch sort of suggests an ikebana arrangement.

My back yard looked something like that before I went on vacation, but when I returned, most of my flowers were gone/dead. My wife just refuses to water the plants when I'm gone.

I suspect, though, c.i. is too modest to show us what he really has in his courtyard...
Nice to hear from you, c.i. ,komban wa?

Down here in southern California, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom...

Looks as though the festival scheduled for April will be held without them.
Beautiful picture -- hard hard for me to imagine cherry blossoms in January.

Okay, folks, here's one from the Nomad: an impressionist work
by digital camera, featuring iris Pallida. Best viewed
by clicking on it to enlarge:

Okay, not too original, but attractive, nonetheless....

Here's the 2009 look at that maple out back.
I swear its color gets richer with age. It
dates back to 1978 as a single leafed seedling
moved with a garden trowel to make way for the
back fence then being installed.

Wow look at that vibrant color, so golden - just beautiful Neko. I love to see
the seasonal changes (especially since we don't have them down here in Southern Cal).
