That's right, folks. Roger has moved out of the 19th century and bought a trac phone. Now, I used it to good advantage on a recent trip, and expect to do the same on the next. In between, should I leave it on till the battery dies, and recharge when needed, or just keep it on full charge indefinately?

Roger- If the phone has a lithium ion battery, you can charge it whenever you like. My very old phone had a nickel cadmium battery. With those, you had to wait until the battery was nearly discharged, before you could charge it up again. The reason for that, was that if you charged it when it already had a charge in it, the battery would eventually lose the capacity to charge fully. (Don't ask me why, I don't know.)

I recharge my cell phone, with the lithium ion battery, every night, no matter how much that I have used it.

P.S. Congrats on coming into the 21st century! Very Happy

What is the Memory Effect of a Ni-Cd battery? How can I avoid it?

After using the battery, it needs to be discharged using a charger. If the battery has not been entirely emptied, the charge will not be complete and will set a new lower energy capacity. This is called the "memory effect".

To avoid this, it is best always discharge the batteries entirely. It will help lengthen their life.

The memory effect does not occur with Nickel-Metal Hydride and Lithium Ion batteries.

It's lithium ion, and thanks.

20th, by the way. Mine doesn't take pictures or wash the cats.
