Using the four digits 3,3,7,7 and the mathematical operators +,-,*,/ write an expression equal to 24. You must use each digit exactly once, but may use each operator multiple times, or not at all. Parentheses are allowed. The following would be a valid expression:

(7 + 3)/(7 + 3) = 1 (NOT THE ANSWER)

chib can't answer this (if he shows up) because he has already done so the last time I posed this riddle.

That, is a good sign! Means the riddle is tricky enough.

Chib said he had a bit of difficulty getting one of the 7s in. That is actually a huge hint.

(7*3)+3=24.....but have one 7 left over, ((7+3)*3-7)+3=24-but need one more digit 3.....
also have variations of getting 23 or 25....but no way to get 24...
((7+3)*3)-7=23
(7+7)+(3*3)=23 etc.

((7*3)-3)+7=25
((7-3)*7)-3=25......uh huh......grrrrrrrr.....I just hate it....

Alexandra, I've been trying to end up with a product of 8 that then gets multiplied by 3 (i.e, using 7,7, and 3 to wind up with 8.) Not working. Sad

Can we use decimals? Like, .7 + .3?

Ok, BIG hint. You need to divide. No decimals. Very Happy

Craven.

I was dividing, adding, multiplying all day long...but seems that I didn't saw the solution that was in front of my eyes, probably. My family is gone crazy with me today... Sad

But, unfortunately for me and them...I almost never give up, so I expect to get the answer soon.

sozobe, I even divided to decimals....but no way to get 24!

And if I dream tonight about those 3,3,7,7 digits, it will be your fault, Craven.

See you when I find the solution,
