For me its gotta be oysters yeuch!! reminds me of having a cough during a bad chest infection...yummy phlegm + fishy too.
Oh and Quorn..foul stuff isn't it? like little lumps of savoury garden moss.What was the person on that invented this stuff??

666 liquid medicine. Daddy used to make us take it when we were children. I don't know if it's cod liver oil or quinine that makes it unbearable but I'd rather have the cold than take that stuff.

Finally tried the sea urchin at a sushi place a couple of weeks ago. I've gotta a pretty tolerant palate, and I love raw shellfish, but that sucker...
Like eating somebody else's snot, chilled.

Like Bella Dea, I don't have stories about food like you guys. My mama was Southern so we ate just about everything.
Nuthin wrong with fried pickles, man...

I don't know the Chinese word for it, but people translate it as "stinky tofu". It's considered a delicacy and tastes the way toe fungus smells. I acutally had to swallow it as people were watching me eat it. It still makes me shiver to think about it.
2nd runner up: Raw octopus. I didn't know what it was and it was beautifully presented, but tasted just awful. I couldn't get it out of my mouth fast enough so I spit it into my napkin and dumped it in my handbag.
One time I woke up with a bloody nose, and after going to the bathroom, to get some tissue, I blew out an earwig, and then it started squirming around in the little pool of snot and blood, before I squished it and thre it away.
Apparantly he was trying to dig a little home in my nose.
I know it's a little off topic, but I hope you guys allow my entry.
