Girls, there is nothing wrong with chasing your dreams, but take it from an old hand: Do not put all your eggs in one basket, so get yourself a good education, while you are looking for your big break.

Helplessteen, drummer queen,

You don't sound like someone wanting to be an actor.
You sound like someone who wants to be a star.
There's a big difference. To become an actor requires years and years of study, hard work and perseverence.

Constantin Stanislavsky said it best. "You must learn to find the art in yourself, and not yourself in the art."

Who was Stanislavsky? You must be kidding.

Drummerqueen, you do not "always see" people who grow into stars overnight. Your perception is flawed by the glitter of shows like American Idol and the likes. But even for American Idol some amount of talent and perseverance is required and for one person to win there are a hundred thousand or more who lose, and all of them wanted to be stars just as bad.

Get a life first and worry about fame later.

So, it seems the consensus is that there are few overnight successes.

There is a segment of movie and stage "stars" that made it another way. I can't list them off the top of my head, but they attended universities and majored in theatre. Pehaps achieving an M.A. in acting. Acting for the stage requires not only vigorous vocal and physical training, but a knowledge of Theater history, the major playwrights of periods, technical theatre. etc.

Notice that many successful movie actors choose to return to the live stage. Two come to mind, Dustin Hoffman did a limited run of Willy Loman in "Death of a Salesman." But that was about ten years ago. Much more recently, Paul Newman played the narrator in "Our Town"

like the both of you have plans of becoming an actress myself. I've been taking acting lessons for about 2 years now. I've been in about 5 school plays and have had three lead parts. The thing about it is that I'm not only looking for t.v. and movie roles, i'm trying to get into theathre too.I also have been taking singing lessons since I was about 5 years old(current age is 14) right now I'm going to go audition for a doritos commercial in L.A. If you girls are interested go to http://www.innw.com and go to the lower right hand corner and a freshfilms add will be posted.

First you need to get lessons, a good but expensive place to do that is John robert powers acting acadamy(it's like a chain so there's probably one in ur city) after that u have to get involved in community theatre just so that u have something to put on your resume.once you have a few things to put on ur resume you have to make one(DUH!) and u have to get a headshot you have to glue or staple or print ur resume on the back of each headshot and u can start sending them out to agents if u don't get at least 5% of the agents to give u call and offer an audition , it's time to get a new head shot.Don't worry I know it seems like alot of work and to tell u the truth it is but the outcome is woth all the work! Very Happy Surprised Razz Cool

This is the reality in Bollywood.

If u r saying stage actress then u must be skillful in acting.

But in films on a bitter note, you can easily become an actress if ...

1. U r from a star family
2. U r some recent Miss India / famous Model.
3. U Sleep with the Director

Otherwise

Take Acting Classes & then struggle for a break for several years.

I am skeptical here , but its the truth.

To become an actor/actress, you first have to have the talent, which is something that you are born with and later build it up. You don't have to go to acting classes, you can practice yourself.

When I was a little girl, my mother would always take me to the theatre or the cinema for a movie and when I'd come back home, I'd lock myself in the bathroom or bedroom and act out parts of the movie in a really quiet voice because I was shy somebody would walk in and laugh at me, and now, I proudly act for everyone anywhere. Anyone and anything. From Jack Sparrow all the way to Robert De Niro's mafia way of talking.

People say that you have to study acting school, graduate and then start working in the theatre until somebody finds you one day, and if they don't, then you stay in the theatre forever. Well, that's not true. If you want to be an actor/actress you have to first respect the theatre, because that's where your proper acting skills for a real audience is born.

I know that when you tell people you want to be an actor/actress they just think it's a little teenage imagination that will eventually pass away.

If you really want to be an actor/actress from the inside for the sake of acting and entertaining the audience, but not for the starlet lifestyle and the hollywood dream, then trust me, you'll get there.

Beleive in yourself and you'll reach exactly what you desire. Listen to nobody else but yourself. Read many books on history, romance, etc to get ideas that you can add to your characters personality to make him/her better, get me?

And you don't need to ask and worry about how you're gonna' get there. Just work for it, and as you live, you'll see.

It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!

I'd look around the forum for the proper category but by now she might be asking how she can become a hooker.

Well then, be damned all who dare speak against thee.

And it's nice to see that all 2 of your posts were here in this thread.

Nothing else to say I guess.

I wasn't going to jump in... but you all keep bumping this thread to the top of the new posts list.

This thread is almost a perfect lead in for a child molester... in fact it is too perfect. A young teenaged girl (named "helplessteen") who only wants to be an actress...?

My suspicion is that this post was from one of those "Catch a predator" shows or vigilante mom's groups.

Check out her other posts before she dissapeared, especially the first one regarding her parents smoking pot. This would be a real long shot for any authorities trying to catch a sexual predator, especially since the PM is shut off for new members and there's no links posted to join anyone on another site (like "My Space," which has been under instense scrutiny).

You're not spiking your coffee this morning?
