If they can send a man to the moon....

... you'd think they could.....

All the little whipersnappers laughed their asses off the other day when I said this.

Granted, the phrase is a wee bit dated. But what to use instead?

What thing carries the same weight as sending a man to the moon?

"If they can decode the genome you'd think they could..." just isn't as punchy?

"If they can make a phone the size of a chiclet...."? (Huh? What's a chiclet?)

"If they can smash up a chicken, extrude it through a tube and actually get us to spend some hard earned cash on it, you'd think they could....." is just downright unappetizing.

It would be so groovy if you could help me jive up my lingo, baby.

Fill in the blanks:

If they can ______________ you'd think they could ___________.

How about:

If they can grow an ear on a mouse you'd think they could.....

I worry that I'd have to carry around the photo as a visual aide for those that don't pay attention to the science pages though.

If they can clone a sheep named Dolly, you'd think they could train a man to pick his wet towel up off the floor.

If we don't have our dreams, what do we have?? Laughing

That is right up there with the wish that some day, my husband will learn to put the toilet set back down and not pee all over. >>sigh<< Laughing

Jackie Gleason sent his wife there on a regular basis.

Andy Kaufmann allegedly made a cameo appearance, as well.

If we can use Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol and IPSec with network address translation traversal to create virtual private network connections over the Internet, why can't we keep spyware from being installed on our computers?

If we can create a perfect collapsing layer siloxane gel that has a permeability of 10^-9, youd think Starbucks could learn how to roast coffee beans properly

If they have the human genome mapped, how come you can't tell for sure which kid started it?

Or for that matter, what country started it?

I can't think up a replacement for "If they can put a man on the moon...." which must be an indicator of my age. However, why can't they perm & color my hair at the same time? You'd think I was asking to....to...put a man on the moon!
