Who is your favorite little-known artist? You know, the ones who aren't in art museums, but maybe they are in a gallery somewhere. I have a few and just ran into an artist from Vermont who I really like - her gallery is on ebay and since she's selling stuff, I don't think I can post the link. But her name is C. Cambrea. And, I'll try to post one of her paintings......

Also, I have a friend in GA who does stuff I like too. Her name is Jill Carnes. I guess I like somewhat trippy abstracted stuff.... can't find anything online of Jill's to show you except a tiny cd cover.

Yeh, Im not gonna be able to sleep for a week.

A regional artist in the style of DeMuth was David Brumbaugh. He died just a few yers ago in the middle of his career. His subjects, though prosaic, were displayed in a "fraktur" view. That was the Demuth influence. Ill see if I cant find a link from the lancaster Art Museum

The original work was like a cross between edvard munch and a petroglyph from an Aztec ruin. Very disturbing, but well done. I like when the artist pays no attention to the edges of the paper .Thats what I love most about Kathe Kollwitz

I love her colors, some of her stuff is very vibrant and synthetic looking, but some looklike they could have been painted with onion skins. Did you check out her other art, Farmerman? She has some interesting pieces drawn and painted(?) onto slices of wood.

I like a collage monoprintmaker I saw in NY named Cecily Firestein. Will see if I can find a link for work I liked by her. (Diane and I both liked it, it was at Phoenix Gallery in the Foster Building on 57th - I also loved the building...)

Oh, my, I like all fourteen pages. We saw 23 Rabbits Sitting and 1 Down - that's what brought us in the gallery as we thought of both Dlowan and Phoenix... (page 12)

and Stag Party (page 12)

and I'm very fond of the elephant series, around page 8

and and and....

edit, the rabbits were on 12..
er, I like a lot of the less 'cute' pieces too.

Another friend (well, she used to be a friend) of mine does these sculptures - from desk-top size, to life-size. She welds a metal frame and plaster adobe on that to form horses (mostly). Alternatively (I'd forgotten) she does them in bronze. Her name is Siri Hollander and she sells her stuff out of Madrid, NM (or did 10 yeras ago).

I saw four of Firestein's paintings, page 1. Very original, crisp and aesthetic. I'll look at the others later--they download so slowly.
