I think 'shall' should die. It sounds insincere and emotive. Its cousin 'shalt' is dead, probably because God used it so often in a negative way. And 'shant' is archaic. 'Shall' is next.

The perfect word to replace it already exists: 'will'.

tycoon, welcome to A2K. I agree that "shall" is rather affected, but I still love the teacher who told me when I was feeling down.

"Don't weep, for if you do, I shall".
