Umm, okay. I've probably had enough for today.

Are you sure you don't want any of this wine I'm about to open now for a quick morning drink?

Please have a moment of silence for me for the loss of two untasted bottles of wine were lost today due to a rain drenched paper bag induced malfunction.

Trader Joe's Coastal brand Syrah. Can't remember the other bottle. But it likely was a red wine.

Luckily two other bottles survived the fall. One bottle (an Italian Moscato) is supposed to be a going away gift for a fellow employee who is leaving our records department and the firm for better pastures. The other surviving bottle is Le Grotte.... I hope that the two surviving bottles don't suffer from PTSD.

I already tried the Le Grotte Lambrusco Dell’Emilia Bianca Sparkling Wine a month ago. Twas nice.

As a home brewer I discovered that the supposed difference between red and white wine isn't the colour of the grape, but whether or not you ferment the wine on just the juice (white) or the whole grape including the skin(red).

Now I have a couple of vines growing in the garden. Three years ago they finally gave me enough grapes to actually make some wine, and I got six bottles of very dry white.

Last year I carried out the same technique, (and after clearing them) it looks like I'm going to end up with rose.

Make of that what you will.

Very ambitious, izzy! Is the weather generally cooperative where you live?

@Eva,
Our son bought a case of 1978 Dom Ruinart champagne some years ago, and researching the internet today provided a pleasant surprise. They're now worth over $250 a bottle.

@izzythepush,
Tannins....they are histamines. I have a physical aversion to them...but...I still love a good red wine. Still...I usually stick to whites.

@Eva,
Not too bad although I didn't get enough 2 summers back. The vines are supposed to be cuttings from a 500 year old vine at Hampton Court so they should be used to British weather.

@cicerone imposter,
Did he buy the champagne initially as an investment, or did he intend to drink it?

(Wine has always seemed too risky of an investment for me, but then I'm not much of a risk taker.)
