My wife was born in Shanghai in the year of the Ram (or sheep). She is superstitious about the Chinese zodiac. Every 12 years is the year of your animal sign. Instead of this being a good thing, the Chinese apparently believe they are more vulnerable to bad luck in the year of their animal. 2003 was a Ram year. My wife wore a red ankle bracelet for the entire year to protect herself from bad luck. (Red is considered a lucky color.)
