Whoopsie!

We packed a big bag of freshly dried lavender into a plastic bin with an unopened bag of flour. Now we have a large bag of lavender-scented flour. I just used some to make a chocolate cake (it's delicious!).

What else can I use this gourmet flour to make? What flavors go with lavender? Should I be thinking savory or sweet? In my soap making I've used lavender with mint and rosemary. My mother has made sugar cookies with lavender. What else? Anyone?

hehe, hmmm, I dunno if peanut butter goes with lavender.... And, I'm not abig fan of peanut butter anyway.

I was thinking I could use the flour as a body powder.

So far all I'm finding is cookies, and lavender-scented creme brule.

I don't think it would be good for your skin if it's a wheat flour. Now if it was rice or corn flour that'd be another thing.

How about some kind of crepe?

Then you could clean out the fridge stuffing the crepes with all different kinds of things.

Given those rashes you've been having, l'k, I'd be cautious. Wheat is one of those things that people have allergies to - food and contact reactions.

Crepes are a good idea - maybe something savoury. I keep thinking mushrooms would work with lavender. I have no idea why.

Ha! I've been doing that same thing.

I wonder what would go with lavender?

Then realizing that I have no idea what flavor lavender might be.

hmmmm.... I'm not a huge mushroom fan anyway. I wish you all could taste the chocolate-lavender cake.

making me think of the chocolates in Parma made with violets... that I didn't try...

though I have had violet hard candies, and liked them.

I know people make food with lavender, just have not looked into myself.

I remember the sugar crusted violets! We tried to make some variations with different flowers one summer. You paint the flower with egg white and then sprinkle the sugar all over them.

For xmas, I bought my brother a dark chocolate bar (among other things) that was infused with lavender.

I love Devon Violet candies. They call 'em cashews for some odd reason. I've just been looking at ordering some online.

You either like the taste of soap, or not.
