Sometimes you can find some good advice from these airlines' websites. Usually they have no reason to steer you wrong... they want you to keep traveling with them: Northwest Airlines Restaurant Advice - NYC

This one sounds good to me.
Quote:
Best Outdoor Dining: I'm not a big fan of eating alfresco in Manhattan. Too loud and too many noxious fumes. That's why I prefer the Boat Basin Café in Riverside Park, at 79th Street (tel. 212/496-5542), where there are no cars, only the sight of boats bobbing in the Hudson River and some glorious sunsets.

I was trying to find the ice cream parlor on, I think, the upper Eastside that is supposed to be totally amazing. Haven't.

There's also that quirky tea shop that used to be featured on TV... but hmmm, can't find that either.

Here, however, is a good rundown of Shopping Options!

And here (still can't find that shop) is an independent listing with reviews of Tea Shops.

Best Sex of the XX Century Sale
Written by Lissa Moira and Richard West, The Best Sex of the XX Century Sale is a satirical musical comedy review; a mock auction of sexual memorabilia circa 1900-2000. It covers the sexual icons (movie stars, historical figures and well-known personalities), movements (all the movements on the sexual dialectic--straight, bi and gay) and many of the scientific breakthroughs that have affected our sexual lives. The musical styles run the gamut from popular gay '90s ditties to hiphop. Moira directs, with musical direction by West and choreography by Mariana Bekerman.

You know, there is a museum of sex too, if you want to do something a little different.

Brooklyn The Musical
Brooklyn The Musical is a new Broadway production by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson with direction & musical staging by Jeff Calhoun and music supervision by John McDaniel.

From the heart of Brooklyn comes a band of soulful street-corner singers and storytellers. With a mix of pop and soul, they set their stage and tell a wondrous sidewalk fairytale about a young girl from Paris whose search for the father she never knew lands her in America, in the city that bears her name...BROOKLYN.

bagels, pizza ...
remember we stayed for a whole week in new york on our first trip there (1969 ?) ? we stayed in a hotel for down and out artists - as we later found out - somewhere on the upper west side. the charge was $12(that is TWELVE !) a night for a two-room SUITE with a hotplate and fridge in a cupboard. we sure did have a good time ! too bad jack dempsey's restaurant is no longer there; we still have one of the menus and a postcard that he signed. jack dempsey would sit with some of his buddies at the restaurant entrance and greet all comers with a nod . i hope nathan's hotdog place is still there. broadway tickets (twofers) were about $3 to $5 ! we sure had fun. since we did not get to harlem you might want to give it a try this time : HARLEM TOURS
