So Im tired and I forget...did we discuss the possibility that this has to do with slope? Maybe the word staircase is a hint...

It might be like scrabble, each letter is worth an amount Smile

STAIRCASE" = 95 =9

+128

"SQUIDGY" = 223 =7

-148

"CURRY" = 75 =5

+83

"CLIMBING" = 158 =8

-72

"BUNGEE" = 86 =6

+100

"HIT" = 186 =3

-/+???

"SAVE" = ? =4

Random patterns I see in this...

Squidgy - 2+2+3 = 7

Curry, Bungee, and Hit's # are divisible by their number of letters

-----------------

Only consistent pattern that I see is that, when played from greatest to least, their numbers take turns gaining and losing. Anyone make anything from this?

I have just one theory not yet mentioned (or hinted at, I think...) - either word counts or page numbers. Anyone got an encyclopedia brittanica? in their individual volumes, any chance those words appear on the pages listed? or word counts - maybe these words are all featured in some book, and thats the number of times they each show up in the book? Or the number of words in the dictionary definition of each of them, perhaps? Websters, or some-such? You know, worth a shot. Just brainstorming here Razz

Has anyone thought of prime numbers? 223 is prime, 95 is 5*19, 19 is prime, 158=2*79, 79 is prime etc...
