I have noticed something very strange. On the top of A2K pages, I sometimes see ads, and sometimes there is a blank. Ever so often though, where an ad should be, I am getting a "This page cannot be displayed" message at the top of the page. The rest of the page is fine.

Why is this happening? Is it my computer, or something that has emanated from A2K?

It just means an ad network's server is not serving.

Closed doesn't mean the thread is killed, it means that for Craven and whoever else is keeping the fine tuning up that they have it cataloged to consider when there is more time.

Closed is their note to themselves, not to us, the user group.
