I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla and recently the clutch has started slipping when I accelerate. My question is this: when I take it to the shop, what can I expect to pay for diagnosis, adjustment, pad replacement, clutch replacement?

Toyota, I don't know, but $500.00 + is the expectation. Unless there is a warranty on this, but they will probably weasle out if there is, in which case, don't have the dealer do the job.

Is that for replacing the entire clutch? Or just the clutch plate?

When you get a "clutch job" it is assumed that they replace the clutch itself... just the disc with the friction material. The rest is really a non-wear issue.

Just for giggles I called the Toyota garage here in town and asked for an estimate on a Tercel clutch job and they quoted me $540 for parts and labor. Should be very similar for your car.

Thanks, that clears up my confusion.

I got quotes raging from $575-$731.
