At cavfancier's urging, I rented Tim Burton's BIG FISH last night and was caught up in it to the very end.

What a delicious movie. Just the right ingredients to make me smile and think.

and you?

Cav, I thought that Albert Finney did a superb job, and the ending was just as it should have been. For a wild moment, I wondered about the town of Specter as I thought it might have been a heavenly type metaphor. Still a bit foggy on the woman who was the water sprite.

One day, I might watch Big Fish and O Brother Where Art Thou together...I'm not sure why though. I had the same feeling about Specter, but the way he tied it in to reality at the end was spectacular. I still think that the water sprite was a metaphor for the uncatchable fish, the uncatchable woman.

Cav, have you seen "Shaun of the Dead" yet?

I think you'd like it.

Oh, and you too, Letty.

I haven't seen it yet, but I probably will rent it. Is it as good as the Evil-Dead movies, or better?

It's a different type of humor. More subdued.

But very, very funny in parts.

( watch for the record scene )

I just saw Shallow Grave for the third time recently. That one just gets better and better.

Gus, the title is enough to tempt me. We need a good satire once in a while to debunk the over-done horror flicks.

I think you'll find "Shaun of the Dead" more enjoyable than "Shallow Grave", Letty.

Cav's trying to trick you.

Very black humour there Letty.

I think so, but it's no 'Deliverance'.

Cav, Shallow Grave looks as though it would be one of those movies that would frustrate me. I like things all tied up in a bow, ya know? I don't mind ambiguity as long as I can figure it out, though.

Gus, my Gawd. I Spit on Your Grave. When I lived in Virginia I rented everything. The little oriental girl who managed the video store there, recommended that movie. I watched it and skulked back near closing time so that no one would see what I had watched. Embarrassed

Big Fish is a great flick...i tend to like Tim Burton movies...Shallow Grave didn't thrill me but it's not the worse movie to see...Shaun of the Dead looks fun waiting for it to hit MVP at Hollywood video..did watch the remake of Dawn of the Dead...very lame...

Hey, Willow. I would never, and I mean NEVER have rented that movie had it not been suggested by the chef. The last Tim Burton movie that I watched had something to do with Halloween. Can't remember it at all.

What was the original Dawn of the Dead? For it's time, that was rather creepy.

Big Fish was a cute movie. Burton is more than a one-trick pony.
