Edit [Moderator]: Moved from General to General News.

Hopefully this idea will stop the epidemic of rape by drugs like rohypnol.

It sounds like a good idea, for people who are drinking beer right out of the bottle. What about those people who are imbibing mixed drinks out of a glass?

We can only do as much as we can do. It's too little but we're trying.

Don1 - My remark was not meant to be critical. I think that the idea is great. I would suspect though, that it is much easier to get a date rape drug into a glass with a wide top, than a beer bottle, to start with.

Hmmm........I just had a thought. Are you familiar with "sippy cups", those used by babies just learning to drink from a cup? That concept might have possibilities.

how common -are- rohypnol rapes anyway?

It actually happened to a friend of my boyfriend. But she didn't pass out. She just got very, very ill and dizzy and took herself to the hospital, whre they told her she had been given rohypnol. She is in the process of finding the guy (her blind date) so she can sue him.

It is very prevalent here in the southern part of CA,
since a generic of rohypnol is available across the border
in Tijuana in all the pharmacias without a prescription.

Unfortunately, most girls don't press charges and
the rapist(s) get away with it.

I didn't think you were trying to be critical Phoenix, the so called "date rape" problem is a crime which if it were up to me would carry a sentence of life without parole, perhaps if male judges were subjected to this treatment they wouldn't consider it to be a misdemenour.

Anything we can do to curb this criminal behavior has to be a step forward, even if it seems a bit lame.
