Usama Bin Ladin goes to bat for John Kerry. Why?

I don't think Bin Laden gives a flying fig about who is president of the U.S., nor do I think it will affect his overall strategy except that he will most likely see Kerry as the one easiest to manipulate with public opinion. I do think he seeks revenge against George Bush. Whether that means he wants Bush to be humiliated with a loss today or wants Bush to stay in power so Bin Laden can get at him is anybody's guess.

The biggest shame would be if this video had any impact either way. Even if Bin Laden explicitly endorsed a candidate, which he surely did not, why would we allow him to determine the fate of our elections with his video recordings? Taking advantage of this video is pure political opportunism. It can only help Bin Laden's cause to have Americans guessing about whether Bin Laden is “going to bat” for either of the candidates.
