How to pronounce "should have", as in:

You should have taken a map.

Should I say /ʃʊd həv/ or /ʃʊdəv/?

ʃʊd həv

Seperate syllables.

The confusion may be that some people say "should of."

... which is grossly incorrect and illiterate (when they write it!) Many people, however, say "should've".

I'd write the first pronunciation as /ʃʊd hæv/ for General American pronunciation.
