Although I acknowledge that there are worse actors than Mr Cruise, I can't stand the guy; he gives me the creeps. And of course him buying into that Scientology crap does not help to endear him to me either.

As to Depp although I am not particular to him, he has performed in films that I like better than any of Cruise's.

Thanks for the heartwarming response guys. Unfortunately, I can't jump in as often as during the summer months, since I work in education and my job is very time consuming.

But to get back to Tom, which of his films did you like best (or hated the least)?

I think for me it would be Born on the Fourth of July. Rain Man was a good film too, but I disliked TC in that role even more than usual and anyway he paled besides Dustin Hoffman (who would probably overshadow TC even in the role of a head of lettuce).

Magnolia was good despite Mr. Cruise. In fact, I enjoyed him in that one.

If I were gay, I would have enjoyed being in Top Gun with him. You see, Top Gun is one of the "gayest" movies made outside of actual gay porn.
The 45 towel snapping scenes in the locker room, shirtless high fives on the volleyball court, and the menacing stare down between Cruise, and the other guy:
"I'm dangerous."

"I am too."

"You have nice eyes."

"Yes. Lets have the gay sex."

Or something like that.

But I'd pick Depp. If I were gay.

I guess that means Slappy and I agree. Top Gun should have been titled Whose Gun Is On Top. Oh, and the 'if I were gay' stuff.

Cruise walks a very narrow rail but Hollywood knows how to market him. Risky Business, Jerry M...etc

I agree paasky Cruise was terrible in Rainman. I think Hoffman had control over the casting and wanted someone to make him look brilliant
