Lane Hop Chest swollen joints

I am repairing a 1944 Lane cedar chest. The corner joints look to be swollen and are pushed apart. I am not sure if I should clamp and glue it as it is or take the whole chest apart. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue? I am a DIY not a wood worker so forgive my ignorance!
