People that launch viruses and worms on the Web act like swine that defecate at the same place they eat.

I had a glacially slow download situation this morning (it resembled a dial-up connection on AOL with Win95 on a computer that had never been defragged)...

...but it's spinning along fine now.

This morning everything was very, very slow here.
Even A2k was taking for ever.
These are links which we got with the news:

Sophos Anti-Virus warns of SQLSlammer internet worm - W32/SQLSlam-A causes internet slowdown
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/articles/slowinternet.html

..."The worm, called W32/SQLSlam-A (also known as SQLSlammer, W32.SQLExp.Worm or Sapphire), relies upon a security vulnerability in some versions of Microsoft SQL server, and creates traffic on UDP port 1434.

W32/SQLSlam-A only infects Windows 2000 servers running vulnerable versions of Microsoft SQL Server - it does not infect end user desktop computers. Furthermore, unlike many commonly encountered viruses it does not spread via email. "...

SLOW! Hell! The net here went down for hours - but it was earlier than the reports suggest - so maybe it was a different problem?

It's now 3:45PM PST, and the net seems to be working at its regular speed. However, we still can't access our accunts at Prudential Securities or American Express - IDS. Wink c.i.
