Thanx for that illuminating exegesis on the swasika, Phoenix. Few peole know that the swastika is very decoratively worked into some moldings in one of the conference rooms of the Dept. of Justice in Washington, DC. It's the conference room just off the main auditorium where the infamous statue of Lady Justice with the bare boobs stands, the one that had to be covered up during a press conference a couple of years ago by order of, I believe, VP Cheney.

Finish it today.
Coincidentally 60 years ago on today Htiler committed suicide......
MY GODDDD!
It was really a good one. I doubt whether the people who criticize it have EVER watched it. Why they didn't find that this is the best history textbook to prevent another tragedy after they have seen insane Hitler, frantic youngters, soldiers being amputated, generals who commited suicide are got executed, frightened women, foolish Waffen SS who alleged they had sworn to the great fuher..... How can't they ask themselves a simple question: What caused this catastrophe? Then, isn't this question more competent than the pale text paper?
Sometimes a great leader utilizes his "soft side" to intice people to trust them and all sorts of evils can be let out of the box with many people continuing to fall for the ploy. Hmmm...sound familiar?
I wish I knew this thread was here...I saw the film about a month ago with a friend who began life in a refugee camp just after the war. We were both impressed with the film.
Hitler certainly wasn't a "regular joe" (whatever that means), but he was human being. I think the director and Ganz did well presenting him as someone who did horrible things but still had other facets of his personality. I know that some cannot accept this notion, and that's their perogative...
