@oristarA,
the caption is very misleading, the photo shows George Washington Carver, a Black inventor and his staff

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington_Carver

as far as i know there are no photos of George Washington the first president

John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States, was the first president to have his photograph taken (the earliest photo still in existence, at least). The daguerreotype was shot in 1843, a good number of years after Adams left office in 1829.

On the other hand, if we’re considering photographs taken in office, that distinction goes to James Polk, the 11th President. This photograph was captured in 1849:

Good picture all the same. Something about those old black and white formating which are so much more dramatic than modern ones.

To be clear, "Carver, George Washington" is another way of saying "George Washington Carver".

And this is George Washington Carver.

So by process of elimination, he is the gentleman, front row center of the original post picture.

So,

@revelette2,
I agree. The pure white to black and all shades in between are more dramatic in their telling. It takes a good eye to take a good picture.
