Hello.

The objective of the school food program was to fight hunger, malnutrition, and dropping out.

Is dropping out ok or is there a better term for it? The objective of the program was to reduce the number of students who dropped out of school. I need a noun. The word appears numerous times in the text and I don't want to have to use a verb and all the other words it requires every time. Thanks very much.

For about 50 years, the phrase 'dropping out' has been readily and widely understood to have, in a scholastic context, the meaning 'abandoning a course of study'.
