Equality - of Religion
All things can be compared. Not all things can be equated with each other.
Religions may be compared on a historical, analytical basis, but that has nothing to do with any form of equality between them.
If they are treated as equal, it can only be in a broadly ethical fashion.
The fact of their being treated as equal implies essentially an external basis of measurement.
That can only be in the form of a overarching religion, or else logically.
They can be equal in respect of their all obeying 'God' as a universal power and authority.
Which is not to say that 'being' exists.
If they do 'obey god' they have that as a term of equality.
But since their interpretation of 'god' may be different that does not preclude them being at war with each other, or in passive animosity.
Purely by coincidence they may all have similar passive and tolerant ethics, or rather all those religions that history has allowed to survive in any force.
They will ascribe that tolerance to belief in one common 'god'. In doing that they are either imposing on themselves an overarching religion, or it is pure coincidence that time may alter.
DESCRIBED by the external measure or logic, that belief in absolute authority is a moral end-value or class of ethics.
Where religion is logically tolerant and questioning of all things, it has ethical values themselves as its 'god'. In which case such a religion can only express 'god' in ethical terms - and not as power and authority.
At that point we have an alternative in ethics and end-values, between pure individualism and society.
A notable point is that we as human beings rise above the animal by having history. History is the ultimate cooperative enterprise. Even a hermit or Robinson Crusoe stands on history, having provided some education in youth. Whatever he does thereafter stands on ten thousand years of cooperative enterprise. Absolute free enterprise is a nonsense.
