To me it is a fantastic movie directed by Steven Spielburg in 1987.

An excellent novel, and an excellent motion picture. I saw the film before i read the book, as was not disappointed on either occassion.

Welcome John-Bush from China to A2K and the Film Forum. Very Happy

Between "Empire of the Sun" and "The Color Purple," Spielberg proved he could produce epic films from historical novels which culminated in "Schindler's List." Several scenes are cinematic classics in "Empire" Spielberg always has a way with iconic imagery. Waiting for him to return to the genre -- supposing he finally directed "Nostromo," the other film legacy left behind by Stanley Kubrick.
