Why do Americans not have a law for guns?

They are clearly dangerous and many other civilized countries have laws for them, buy in America there are none and to me it looks like a far West.
Also,what is it with some people considering them a fashion accessory or even a sport or hobby? I would personally keep mine unloaded hidden in my safe and only use it if thieves cone in. I also think that if guns were prohibited, you wouldn't need a gun to defend yourself, because the other one wouldn't have a gun in the first place

@alexpari1,
We have many laws relating to firearms. Most have been enacted at the state level, and vary widely from state to state. For the rest of your statements, I'll pass. In over a decade on this site, I haven't changes a single mind and I don't expect to start now.

To quote one of the great savants here: "If we bacon, we could have bacon and eggs, if we had eggs."

There are gun laws in the US. Many of them are unconstitutional.

The Wild West thing is a myth perpetrated by Freedom Haters.

Americans are free people. We get to do such things if we so choose.

If you are confronting home invaders, a gun that is unloaded and locked in a safe will not do you much good.

All sorts of things are wrong with that. First, "need" isn't terribly relevant to this issue.

Second, people use guns to defend against attackers who do not have guns.

Third, if guns were prohibited, criminals would in fact still have guns.

Fourth, it is unconstitutional to prohibit guns in America.

@cicerone imposter,
then whats that crispy brown stuff in a BLT?

You should reconfigure your post to say something like,
"Eggs without bacon is not bacon and eggs"

My work here is done.

@cicerone imposter,
of what?
Youre denying baconness. Thats an impossibility. Erasmus claimed that its one of the fundamental concepts of reality (bacon, that is)

Bacon DEFINES the egg dish.

@alexpari1,
There are plenty of gun laws here in the US, both at the federal level and the state level. Even some counties and cities have their own laws. Where did you get the impression that there were no laws?

@farmerman,
The Wench.
On peering into the trench
he was overcome with the stench
there lay the broken wench
that wench he had seen on the bench
that day he held the wrench.

Poor wenchs never get a good deal, who'd be a wench?.

@alexpari1,
Are you an American? If so, you would know about the various restrictions and laws that already exists. They are getting more and more worse that you will no longer be able to defend your property and lives with a gun in the future. When some thug intrudes into your home and you have nothing to defend yourself with, you will change your mind about gun rights.
