Okay, this has nothing to do with snausages. The word makes me laugh.

At what point does a cult become a religion? Does it have to do with the number of members or conformity to society or popular acceptance of legitimacy of ideals or some other factor?

If we consider this definition, from the American Heritage Dictionary of the English language, a cult IS a religion, but out of the mainstream.
