Your question assumes that all children of divorced parents are "messed up." It also ignores that parents who feel no affection and display no affection for one another--let alone parents who shout at one another and fight constantly--are not necessarily doing their children any favors, either. Marry in haste, repent at leisure. Many people marry without really considering what the commitment means. If they also have children, the probability of the children suffering will be significant whether they divorce or stay together.
