Help for identifying stony peanut!

Found that tiny stone at a beach in Cape Breton, Canada. Could be just a really weird form but the small notch all around the stone on both sides make me wonder what else it could be. It's hard, cold and heavy like a small stone. Any ideas?

Nell I wonder if it's volcanic glass

But don't try to chip it...

@coccinella,
It almost looks man made. Could it be a man made glass or ceramic product which has tumbled around in the ocean for a long time?

@rosborne979,
looks like a concretion or else a volcanic "bomb" or ejecta.
The Triassic beds of the Cape Blomedin area have ejecta beds that have produced some similar "nuggies".
Its good that you took a picture with a detqiled scale with it. Thats an important piece of info and helps.
If you hold this up to a really bright light , can you see some light through it?

If you can, is it greenish?

Thanks for the replies! I 'm also wondering whether it's handmade but i don't have a clue what for. Thought about finding a way to cut it, but it looks so nice and actually i don't want to destroy it. It's not transparent at all and too heavy for having a volcanic origin. Beaches around here are full of round stones, so it might be tossed and sanded during years but it wouldn't explain the perfect notch which is still there..

@coccinella,
SO it is probably a concretion.if its a concretion of something like "bog ore" or even iron manganese (often found down at Lqke Charlotte) it would be heavier than a piece of shale .

@farmerman,
Man, gotta give ya credit. After a lifetime as a rockhound I'd hardly learned a thing, liked the rocks 'cause they're pretty
