An old man is found dead in his room. The only things in the room are his chair, a table, a bottle of very expensive wine, and a wine glass. How did he die?

He didn't die because of natural causes. No had any intentions of killing him, nor was he suicidal. In the room wasn't any blood, or shattered glass for that matter.

A hint is that the wine glass was part of the cause.

His room was on a houseboat and he ran out of fresh water at sea so he drank only alchohol based drinks which killed him

I was wondering: A man hangs himself in the barn. He knows his wife is watching. The wife claims it is an accident. She comes with the following explanation: the man was not sure whether she (his wife) really loved him, or only his money. What he did was: he went to the barn, knowing his wife was following him. There he made preparations to hang himself. The last second, when he stood there on a chair, he looked at her. He expected her to stand up, run to him and prevent him from hanging himself. She didn't. He hanged himself. He expected to live.

Do you agree with her it was an accident?

Rick states, “He expected her to stand up, run to him and prevent him from hanging himself. She didn't. He hanged himself. He expected to live.”

a) Why was she sitting down?

b) How did she know what he expected her to do?

c) Why did she not replace the chair and save him?

Well the wife thought that he hadn't noticed her following him. When he went into the barn, she hid and sat down. The man however knew that she was there (he just knew it).

Now that was what I was wondering too. That's why my question.

Apparently, she believed he would not pull it through, and would step of the chair. He didn't. That why she thought it to be an accident.

Now, I read this in a book about a family full of women whos men did not only die of accidents, but who were also SUPPOSED to die of accidents (and the ones who did not, should).
