I SHOT MY AGE TODAY!

This morning, at Warrenbrook Golf Course, I achieved the golfer's dream of shooting my age.

I had a 79.

I've had better scores...but they were years ago.

This is the first time I've broken 80 in two years.

Almost missed it.

Had a 39 on the front...and was optimistic, because I almost always do better on the back at Warrenbrook.

When I got to the 18 hole (a par 4 over water) I was at 34...which means I could still get a double bogey and card a 40...which was what I needed.

I was nervous...no doubt. My tee shot was short and to the left...and my long approach ended up in a huge bunker at the right side of the green.

Sand wedge moved the ball from the mid-back of the bunker to the front of the bunker.

I wanted to throw up.

My second sand wedge shot only got me to the collar...a couple inches off the green.

I was flustered.

I putted...but it came up short by about 4 feet!

Then I drained the second putt.

Whew!

Hope I've got a couple more of these rounds in me.

@Frank Apisa,
Congratulations. My only hope of doing that is playing putt putt.

@Frank Apisa,
Wow, I bumped into this topic while I was searching for people who have ever shot their age. And omg I found it. How did you do that?

Wow...thanks for reviving this thread. I had forgotten about it. This is from 5 5 years ago. I was younger...and still managed to do it.

Haven't done it since...and considering how little golf I am playing these days, I may never do it again.

It was a thrill beyond all imagination. I was playing with my regular foursome and they all went ape-**** celebrating with me at the time.

Everyone knew it was a possibility...but the rule is "no talk about it while the round is being played"...so nobody was mentioning anything during the back nine. (We did kid about the possibility after finishing the front.)

But amazingly enough, the other guys knew right were I stood...so they also were in agony during the 18 hole play.

Are you close to being able to do it?

It's harder to ride your age on a bicycle.

It wasn't that difficult when I was 20.

@maxdancona,
It'll get easier when you're 70.

I'm a hacker.

Best handicap I've ever had was about 13. That is not terrible...but far from good.
