Dont know why it's doing this.

I have a spreadsheet, and invoice template, that was made by someone else who knows how long ago. There's no complicated forumulas in it, or anything strange as far as I can see.

I created a footer, using &[Page] of &[Page]

Then, I copied the cells from the 1st page, copying it below onto a 2nd page.

Page one footer reads "Page 1 of 1"
Page two footer reads "Page 2 of 2"

First page should read "Page 1 of 2" obviously.

What the....? This is so simple, it shouldn't be doing this.

@chai2,
I went to page setup, then header/footer. Is 'different odd and even pages' checked? Or it could be 'different first page' - I would try a few separate options and see what happened.

Note: I am using Office 2010 so things might be slightly different from what you've got.

@jespah,
I've got 2013 but it's still got those options. No dice, doesn't work.

I'll search around some more on the interweb.

Thanks.

@chai2,
Screw it.
I can't waste any more time.

I've only got 1 invoice out of maybe 10 monthly that needs a second page.

I'll just edit it manually when I come to that one.

@chai2,
The total number of pages is [Pages] not [Page]. What you want is

&[Page] of &[Pages]

@engineer,
Whoa engineer, I accidently stumbled on a solution while trying to implement yours.

I thought I had tried yours before, but attempted it again. When I would add the "s" it would then say something like "Page 1 out of 104"

But....when I was deleting that, I accidently left in, then modified this...

&[Page] of &[2

Finally it says
1 of 2
2 of 2

Weird. I mean, I get why it does that, but what a workaround.

@chai2,
104 pages! I guess you have some empty rows and columns in there somewhere. Glad you got it to work for you.

@engineer,
Yeah, it's some spreadsheet I inherited from someone else, who got it from someone else. I think it's probably been used by people who never worked in excel. Even the formating of the text is forced.

I'm trying to clean it up. I really don't want to have to recreate it, at least not yet. Maybe at some point in the future, but not now.

Thanks engineer.
