I always found this a bit creepy/sick, probably because of the happy beat.

@chai2,
"Ring Around the Rosey" comes instantly to mind.

"Since the 20th century, the rhyme has often been associated with the Great Plague which happened in England in 1665, or with earlier outbreaks of the Black Death in England. Interpreters of the rhyme before the Second World War make no mention of this;[18] by 1951, however, it seems to have become well established as an explanation for the form of the rhyme that had become standard in the United Kingdom. Peter and Iona Opie, the leading authorities on nursery rhymes, remarked:

The invariable sneezing and falling down in modern English versions have given would-be origin finders the opportunity to say that the rhyme dates back to the Great Plague. A rosy rash, they allege, was a symptom of the plague, and posies of herbs were carried as protection and to ward off the smell of the disease. Sneezing or coughing was a final fatal symptom, and "all fall down" was exactly what happened.[19][20]

The line Ashes, Ashes in colonial versions of the rhyme is claimed to refer variously to cremation of the bodies, the burning of victims' houses, or blackening of their skin, and the theory has been adapted to be applied to other versions of the rhyme.[21] In its various forms, the interpretation has entered into popular culture and has been used elsewhere to make oblique reference to the plague."

Eminem wrote some pretty bad s..t, including the following, by far the creepiest song I ever heard. A good song still... Anyway, you've been warned.

@farmerman,
Oh God, Tubular Bells used to freak me out, associating it with the Exorcist. Couldn't listen to it.

@chai2,
The number that was "the second side" of the Tube... record was even creepier. It was a voice-over of a series of those deep gutteral voices that the demon was making in the movie and this was accompanied by some kind of forgettable music.

SCARE ME T DEATH!!

@farmerman,
The creepiness of this must be enjoyed in a live presentation. I was either a kid or I was stoned when I first heard this song and Ive never been able to listen to it again unless its by Tiny Tim.

When I was young my older brother used to play this 45 all the time - it gave me nightmares (but unlike many of those listed it was supposed to be creepy not hidden creepiness) and it wasn't just the lyrics it was the music - ambulance sounds, heart rate ending with a sound like flat line:

DOA by Bloodrock
I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air...

Laying here, looking at the ceiling,
Someone lays a sheet across my chest.
Something warm is flowing down my fingers
Pain is flowing all through my back.

I try to move my arm and there's no feeling
And when I look, I see there's nothing there.
The face beside me stopped it's holy bleeding
The girl I knew has such a distant stare.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.

Then I look straight at the attendant,
His face is pale as it can be.
He bends and whispers something softly,
He says there's no chance for me.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.

Life is flowing out my body,
Pain is flowing out with my blood.
The sheets are red and moist where I'm lying.
God in Heaven, teach me how to die.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.
