I'm not particularly thrilled with the choice, but I'm also not pleased with the fact that Kerry is representing the Democrats.

But I'll have to go along with McGentrix in believing that anyone is better than Bush.

Interesting. I was sure he would pick Gephart.

But now that he has picked Edwards I would probably lean toward voting Kerry for President. Don't ask me why - just my immediate reaction to the news.

edwards helps kerry win the election.

what more is necessary for a vp?

on a personal note: i supported edwards in the primaries and we have mutual friends in the business community in charlotte, north carolina.

there is much pro and con that edwards brings to the table, however, what has resonated most with people about edwards is the story he tells about himself and his (and our own) place in the american story.

in the campaign what is most effective is when a candidate can intertwine his/her narrative with the popular mythos. when one can do that, they make the american story their personal story too.

i think kerry's wife had much to do with the selection and i believe that edwards wife did too. the two wives appear very comfortable together, more comfortable than their respective husbands.

What about Edwards connections to big tobacco? What's going to happen when all those Iraqi's start smoking Winston cigarettes and dying from lung cancer if they get elected?

Kerry was very critical of Edwards throughout the campaign, of course Kerry can flop on all that now.

Yee-haw!!

I'm thrilled.

I thought it'd be Gephardt, and I was NOT happy about the idea. Just logged in, just saw the news on yahoo, did a little TD/ fists in air thing spontaneously. I think it was the right decision, glad he did it. Article I read in NYT recently was suggesting he wanted someone who wouldn't be a spotlight person, who didn't have ambitions beyond VP. Looked bad for Edwards.

Great!! Good job, Kerry + co. A breath of fresh air, a Southerner, a good debator, charisma -- this'll be good.

Aw, I got the email about it but the order of seeing things was Yahoo, this, email. Oh well.

It mentions the "Two Americas" thing, I'm glad Kerry will be able to use that now, it was good.

Quote:
Throughout his own campaign for President, John spoke about the great divide in this country -- the "Two Americas" -- that exist between those who are doing well today and those that are struggling to make it from day to day. And I am so proud that we're going to build one America together.
