@maporsche,
The Iraq war was an eye opener for some of the smartest republicans out there. Good for them. You deplore people's changes as if it was a bad thing. When I see a person evolving politically and coming closer to my positions, I welcome it. I wish many many more republicans would cross over and become socialist.

This is one of these glass-half-empty-half-full, optimist-vs-pessimist things.

@Olivier5,
The whole thing about me possibly being a conservative is nothing more than an intentional smokescreen used to avoid confronting their hideous neoliberal candidate. I don't care what they say. They resemble a giggling gaggle of snotty-nosed five year olds on a playground. "Let's pretend this now..."

They're whiny cowards with no responsibility for what their disgusting party is doing to the country.

@Lash,
Don't worry about them, or about me not getting what they try to do. It's all very transparent.

This worries me. I am not THAT disgusted by the democrats. I am TOTALLY disgusted by the republicans, by the long series of incompetent, corrupt, lying sacks of **** they have lined up for this and previous elections. By Bush and Cheney. By wars of choice and obscenely divisive rhetoric. That's where I come from.

And I am sad that so many in the democratic party have decided to mimicvk the republican party, and to stand up for the rich rather than for the poor.

Call me simplistic, but IMO the right cares for the rich and powerful, while the left cares for the poor and disenfrenchized. It's how it should be, it provides balance. But if both parties start to pander to the same group of ultra-rich donors, we have a problem. That's why I like Bernie: because he wants to bring the American left where it should be.

And it's line this one which started all the whinny criticism of Lash, not just ganging up on her for the sheer fun of it, which btw, is definitely not fun. She was more believable and likable as a Bush Iraq war fan, authentic I should say.

Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders in new Maryland poll

Hillary Clinton currently holds a double-digit lead over Bernie Sanders in next week's Maryland primary, according to a new poll.

Democratic primary voters prefer Clinton by 25 points, a margin of 57 percent to 32 percent, according to a a new Monmouth University poll. At this point, she leads in just about every demographic group:
. Men (59 to 32 percent)
. Women (56 to 32 percent)
. White voters (52 to 39 percent)
. Black voters (64 to 20 percent)
. Voters under 50 years of age (50 to 39 percent)
. Voters over 50 years old (64 to 25 percent)

"The demographics of Maryland's Democratic electorate are similar to past primary states where Clinton has done very well," Monmouth University Polling Institute director Patrick Murray said in a press release. "However, it looks like that isn't as important a factor since she holds large leads among practically every voting bloc."

Maryland Democratic voters strongly prefer either of the Democrats to Donald Trump, with 87 percent saying they'd support Clinton, and five percent defecting to Trump in a general election matchup. The numbers are similar for Sanders, who would attract 83 percent of these voters, losing six percent to Trump.

Monmouth also polled on the Senate primary between Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland and Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Maryland. Van Hollen holds a 52 - 36 percent lead over Edwards.

The Monmouth University Poll was conducted by telephone from April 18 to 20, 2016 with 300 Maryland voters likely to vote in the Democratic presidential primary. This sample has a margin of error of+5.7 percent. The poll was conducted by the Monmouth University Polling Institute in West Long Branch, NJ.

@Olivier5,
Absolutely not. We agree about Republicans. I just don't buy the lesser of two evils thing.

The Democrats have it pretty easy just deflecting all criticism by pointing at the republicans. The fact that democrats "know the rights things" to say, and they give great lip service to minorities and equality belies -in many cases- what they actually do.

Obama signed a pact with Monsanto over a holiday, if I remember correctly; he has ordered more murders by drone than Bush.

Democrats obliterated Glass-Steagall and opened the floodgates for even more corruption in politics.

The false dichotomy profits both sides and devastates us, imo.

A political party should not be protected in their corruption. It's so stupid to me.

@Lash,
I didn't develop a visceral hatred for the Dem party elites until I saw how they've rigged the works against my candidate.

I'd say approximately half of Bernie voters feel the same way.

@Lash,
You were still for Bush and the Iraq war long after the torture and shock and awe commenced and never said a word against it that I can remember. Let it alone opening your eyes. Now suddenly that your man ain't in office, you are against drones. Not buying it. You hated the Clintons when Bill Clinton was in office, Bernie boy gives you the perfect cover to go after them without brushing you with same paint as the republicans. Smart but sneaky and conniving.

@revelette2,
Hillary supported the Iraq war with her voting power in the senate. LOL, funny that it bothers you enough to make you a nasty cow online to a progressive for past political opinions, but you'll make the Iraqi Warhawk Clinton president.

Your priorities, as always, are nonsensical.

I'll throw you on the discard pile now.

@Lash,
Hillary was not my first choice, however, there is little choose from this time around and she far more prepared to President than Bernie Sanders who can't tell you how he is going to implement his core ideas.

On the Iraq vote, I have said it before and I will say it again as it is relevant to her candidacy. Many democrats voted for Bush to go through a process at the UN to make their case for war. However, along with lying, they cut the process short and preceded to bomb Iraq for no earthly reason at time considering inspections were ongoing at the time. It was that process which was voted on in Congress.

'04 Hopeful Kerry Blasts President's 'Rush to War'

Quote:
"Mr. President, do not rush to war," said Kerry, whose speech marked him as the most skeptical about war of the top-tier contenders for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination.

While calling for the United Nations to intensify pressure on Iraq to disarm, Kerry urged Bush to give more time to the U.N. inspections process that the administration has increasingly condemned as inadequate.

"The United States should never go to war because it wants to; the United States should go to war because we have to," Kerry said at Georgetown University. "And we don't have to until we have exhausted the remedies available, built legitimacy and earned the consent of the American people, absent, of course, an imminent threat requiring urgent action."

At this time, you were still for Bush, I supported Kerry, but they swiftboated him shamefully and we ended up with four more years of Bush. Thanks.

@Lash,
Clinton has admitted that she made a mistake and she has changed her position. There are others here that supported that war and changed their positions, some that have dramatically changed their positions from years gone by. Can you accept that people can look back and see that their previous positions were incorrect?

Hillary voted to grant the president the right to go into Iraq IF the evidence continued to warrant it. This was after Bush fed the Senate false intel.

There is a big difference being in the Senate and having the President force a yes/no vote on you, and being in the Oval Office and having the ability to shape events so that those yes/no questions don't occur.

If Hillary was in the White House at the time, we would not have gone into Iraq without UN approval.

Clinton comes down on the side of the war option every time. She only admitted to making a mistake because of the disastrous result. She has said during the campaign she wants a more muscular foreign policy than Obama's. She is not hands-clean in the Libya disaster.
