@RABEL222,
There are differences between communism and socialism. Communism is when the state owns all commerce. Socialism is practiced in capitalistic countries in many different ways.

@RABEL222,
Hey, wait. Some of us like Bernie best, so could be called bernieites. Some of us will vote for Hillary Clinton while not very engaged with her, as she may be the best choice in the long term, and I do get reasons for that opinion. I am likely to vote Bernie in our primary, making a point, a marking point re dems.

Quit taking fell swoops at people who like Bernie.

Past that, I feel for you and your wife, good luck and hang in there.

Show them an article that explains how Bernie Sanders is using dark money from SuperPACs and they come back at you with "Oh, well the New York Times is "the establishment" lol.

@RABEL222,
Yeah. Nothing's changed in sixty years. Blacks still can't sit at Woolworth's counter, gays can't work in the school system, and Communism is the same as Socialism.

By the way, what is this contraption you're using to communicate?

You and people like you won't win the Communism argument. I wouldn't want to stand in the historical corner with McCarthy.

Why Flea (and other Peppers) are voting for the Bern.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/flea-why-i-support-bernie-sanders-20160205

Excerpt (Flea's voice):
A year ago, nobody really cared about Bernie Sanders or knew who he was. And here's a guy that is not relying on fear-mongering or Super PACs or billions of dollars. He's just talking about issues that really affect us as human beings, like caring about each other and evening the playing field.

People try to demonize it like, "Socialism is the next step to communism." That's just insane silliness. Bernie isn't talking about eliminating the spirit of capitalism in terms of the competitive spirit of people being able to lift themselves up by their bootstraps through discipline and hard work and creativity and ingenuity. He's not trying to eliminate making something great of yourself and being part of the American dream. He's just saying, "Let's even the playing field so everybody can get a decent education and have an opportunity to get health care and take care of themselves and educate themselves." That's what civilization should be about.

(snip)

The Chili Peppers are doing a show for Bernie this weekend and it's something like $30,000 to rent the venue. We said, "Oh, we'll pay for the cost of the venue rental." And he wouldn't accept it! He said, "We can't accept you guys; you're a group — you're incorporated — so I can't accept that money." He can accept the ticket cost because each one is a small donation, but the 30 grand? "No, I don't accept money like that."

.......When she threw at Bernie that his plan sounds like he wants to get rid of the ACA and start from scratch, throwing the whole country back into another scorched earth battle, did Bernie respond with a cogent answer that showed he had an idea of how to get to universal healthcare? No, Bernie did Bernie - he answered something to the effect of "We need healthcare for all, and if the people unite, we can get there!" It got much applause of course, but it said nothing. I want everyone to pay close attention when Bernie is asked HOW he plans to do all his miraculous ****. Because if he knows, he ain't telling. It's all "We the people can achieve anything if we stand together!" It's exciting - it's hopeful as ****. It's a beautiful sammich, but where's the beef?

I don't agree with Bernie's program, but I do agree with your analysis of the defect in Bernie's response. He's not proposing any practically achievable legislative program, but rather a transforming revolution, and doing so in the absense of any plausible evidence that it could be achieved in congress. (Hell, the ACA itself was a big fight with lasting bad after effects.)

My impression is that other candidates of both parties, including Hillary, practice similar, but perhaps less far-reaching hyperbole in their rhetoric as well (though Trump is certainly a major contender). While I commend Hillary for the honest candor in her response on that issue I also note that she is not exempt from political deception ("triangulation" was Bill's word for it) in her actions either.

@CalamityJane,
Ezra Klein and Shaun King located an interview with Warren wherein Warren shares a story about Hillary Clinton knowingly switching a vote for Wall Street. It's going viral.

Warren has a lot of nerve to call it out like that - in 2004.

@cicerone imposter,
Thanks, CI. He has a longstanding reputation for creating coalitions. I was really impressed by what he was able to do for veterans.

Are you still in Hawaii?

@Lash,
No. We've been home since Jan 31, but I'm ready to return to Hawaii (climate, food, and free lodging at my nephew's condo).

@CalamityJane,
Me too. When my daughter was living in Boston, she cast her first enthusiastic vote for Warren. This is a woman I'd like to see at the top of a ticket. Soon.

More pressure on Elizabeth.

I don't think a 70-somethings' threat of hell is so much meant for millennial chicks.

Ooh, what a burn. If that's your best shot at Warren, that's kind of pitiful.

@snood,
Several, maybe even 'lots' of people I've known have had some Cherokee in their 'bloodline'.
Even I have some purported Welsh, way back there. Go ahead, pick on me for mentioning it.

Yeah, I think that's the closest thing they have to some 'dirt' on Warren, so every once in a whole they have to trot it out. If Warren becomes more prominent in this election, we can be sure to see much more of this 'scandal'.
