how to distinguish"comparing"and"compared"?

I think "compare"is an active verb but many sentenses use"compared with "as the beginning.how to distinguish both of them?

You must look at the FUNCTION of ANY word in the sentence to figure out what it is.

Compare my car to yours.

Compare my car with yours.

We can compare our cars to each other.

He is always comparing his car to mine.

He compared the two cars before buying.

Comparing the two cars is not fair.

He likes to compare cars all the time.
