Well, if you moderate your anger, you won't kill anyone.

honestly, if you had someone even more important than a son, which means for me you were gifted with a precious and rare privilege, and you gave that person up.... you should be punished and disgraced by God.... for me it´s like you made an Idol out of god... worshipping the image but not the message....
It was the image of the person (alas, a false one) that I had made an idle of. If I had missed the message before, it was made clear to me then.

@momoends,
If you mean that I put God in first place, - guilty.

I tried to break him once. I don't think he's glass.

@Leadfoot,
yes, you make god the idol you worship.. you give others up and sacrificed them to please it.... but missed the message: loving and sacrificing yourself for your beloved ones....
meaning you should have sacrificed yourself and faced the unknown consequences brought to your soul, keeping that person by your side to take care of them

@momoends,
momoends, neither of us knows enough about each other's lives to understand the challenges we have faced and how we handled them. You have probably faced existential threats that you are unable to communicate to others without sounding trite. Same is true of most.

The old advice about walking in another's shoes applies here.

Trends in Global Restrictions on Religion
http://www.pewforum.org/2016/06/23/trends-in-global-restrictions-on-religion/

This article could have also been titled "Religion Related Terrorism".

Doesn't 'religion related terrorism' seem like an oxymoron? Well, apparently it isn't...

@TheCobbler,
Funny you would post that because it means you never read Genesis. Isaac does NOT reject God over that. And yet you would force Isaac against God and his father because of what you think. Humorous to those who think about what is actually asserted in some of these dumb posts.

@AugustineBrother,
I have read and studied Genesis but did you actually read the meme?

It does not say anywhere that Isaac rejected or accepted God. Your comprehension skills are terrible.

This is just a test but, kill your child to prove your love to God. THIS is insanity! How many children have suffered over the years because of this tripe? Strap a bomb to yourself or a child and prove your love for Allah! STUPIDITY!

It is simply that with the Bible's unthinkable brutality we should all reject that kind of barbaric God.

Isaac probably never even existed...

And Abraham's (if he existed) weakness was listening to such an evil deity in the first place!

Doing this to a child is criminal but every day at least one religious freak considers this!

SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN!

Interesting you would use that phrase.
Know what the word 'suffer' means in the biblical passage where it's used?

@Leadfoot,
Yes I do know what it means "suffer" in that verse means "prevent not".

It is Old English and I did not even have to look it up.

I know what it means but most Christians don't. (it is erroneously used by ministers in the burial of children)

Jesus is in heaven now (supposedly at God's right hand)... Prevent not the little children to come unto him.

And your point is?

Unscrupulous religious people also use that verse to justify the murder of innocence.

Only that it had nothing to do with children suffering.

@Leadfoot,
Does Jesus mention the suffering of children elsewhere?

Let's see how much you know.

@TheCobbler,
What good does Shredded Wheat offer the world today? Just as with 'religion' if you buy it you have voted. It offers me something so I eat Shredded Wheat, I am a Catholic, I buy blue serge dresses.

This is what freedom and peace and advancement consists of essentially, that I make the choice of what is good and you let me. You make your choice of good and I let you.

Anything else is tyranny.

@TheCobbler,
That applies to you but not to me.
Must you feel so insecure that for you to believe something you must demand that everybody else is wrong ??

I am not a biblical scholar but nothing specific comes to mind other than the generic suffering that he implies when he said 'I come not to bring peace, but a sword'. Children do not get a break from that bloody battle between good and evil. As he said, 'Suffer the children to come' .
