Please, read the following sentences and try to help me to solve my problem:

"Using an inventive approach to medicine, a Thai ear doctor has helped hundreds of thousands of people "

'Using an .... .... to medicine", in this portion of sentence, meaning of each word is known to me. But the meaning of 'medicine' for this sentence is not clear to me. I think this word is not meaning drug. Please help me.

@Nousher Ahmed,
In this case "medicine" means "clinical practice" not specifically "drug administration".
Note for example that the sentence "I am studying medicine" means "I am studying to be a doctor".

@Nousher Ahmed,
Exactly what Fresco said.

If a person says, "I'm going back into medicine"...the person is saying that he/she is returning to an occupation in the medical field.

@contrex,

I don't think I can usefully add to that. What splendid replies.
