Quote:
Anita Ekberg, who became an international symbol of lush beauty and unbridled sensuality in the 1960 Federico Fellini film “La Dolce Vita,” died on Sunday in Rocca di Papa, southeast of Rome. She was 83.

The cause was complications of a long illness, her lawyer, Patrizia Ubaldi, said.

Ms. Ekberg had kept a low public profile in recent years. She did make an appearance in 2010 at a film festival in Rome, where a new restoration of “La Dolce Vita” was having its world premiere. In December 2011 it was reported that she was almost penniless, had no family to help her and was seeking financial assistance from the Fellini Foundation while living at a nursing home in Italy, her adopted country.

@edgarblythe,
Yes. Certainly not a great actress but a sparkling personality.

@Lustig Andrei,
I haven't known much about her, have liked her in passing because of the La Dolce Vita flic, that I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen, me who has seen at least a hundred ital movies, me who could never analyze the plot development in any movie ever, at least not the way some can analyze.

I like the fountain she dallied in, have researched about it during my long interest in the history of piazzas, have enjoyed the street La Dolce Vita made famous, once while getting my passport fixed.

That she was lately in financial trouble and in a nursing facility, sigh, will get me to read more about her.

Rest in peace, Anita.
