If you're talking guitar heroes, Les Paul has to be in the conversation.

Still the Jubilee.
Quote:

THE CHILDREN'S FETE. (June 22.)

Girls and Boys came out to play,

Sun was shining—a lovely day !

Came with a whoop and came with a call,

How they romped and enjoyed it all!

Dancing about on the spacious green,

Cheering and blessing their gracious Queen,

And when the fun and frolic had ceased,

Cheering the Founder of the Feast.

May their fate in the future, we heartily pray,

Be as bright as we saw was their Fete of this day!

All those children are dead now.

@izzythepush,
Hurry back, dear friend. I never see your Jubilee with children that I don't think of this:

One theory is that the song refers to events immediately preceding the Glorious Revolution of 1688, the overthrow of King James II of England aka James VII of Scotland. The baby is supposed to be the son of James VII and II, who was widely believed to be someone else's child smuggled into the birthing room in order to provide a Catholic heir for James. The "wind" may be the political "wind" or force "blowing" or coming from the Netherlands bringing James' nephew and son-in-law, William III of England, a.k.a. William of Orange, who would eventually depose King James II in the revolution crasdle in the royal house of Stewart.

Back later as I'm having a few problems. Hope our listeners and contributors will comment on the songs that have been played here today.

The daily papers having announced in good time that June 21st
" would be observed as a Collar Day," Sir Chaeles Warren was
enabled to provide an efficient staff of plain-clothes men for the
occasion. It is remarkable, from the Police Reports of Wednesday,
how very few were actually collared.

Quote:
Collar days are designated days on which the collar forming part of the insignia of certain members of orders of knighthood may be worn. Collars are special large and elaborate metal chains worn over the shoulders, hanging equally in front and back, often tied with a bow at the shoulders, with a distinctive pendant attached to the front.

Another pun in that collared is also a slang term for being arrested.

Good sunny Thor's day here in our Florida radio station.

edgar/Mark, thanks for your comment and personal acknowledgement, my friend.

Don't by The King was great. Never heard that one.

Latin George, your French Toast was a pun and I enjoyed both of those French songs, dear friend.

Izz with a y, sorry that I missed explaining about the nursery rhyme: Rockabye Baby in the Tree Top. Hope you will check it out when you get the chance.

Liked your puns on Collar Day. I remember when women wore garter belts. Glad that's gone.Smile

Ah, I was hoping my friend Roger would play some country music, but here is this guys' birthday, and I love it:

Now, a funny one. We'll never know who William Shakespeare really is, because the only record of him is his baptism.

Now, the funny part. She is supposed to be Juliet?

@Letty,
Ken Curtis has a great voice, letty. He was a member of the Sons of the Pioneers at one time.

I like the music from West Side Story. The play itself, not so much.

Got a clip of Sadie Hawkins Day

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment and further explanation, Mark.

My word, dear friend, I had forgotten about Lil Abner. Fantastic and Sadie Hawkins Day reminded me of Hawkshaw. Here a great tribute to him and a duo:

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love My Heart Belongs to Daddy, and thanks once again for your comment and personal acknowledgement.

Mary singing about gold reminded me that Bing Crosby died on a golf course.

This one is a big long, but I think we'll all enjoy looking back in happier times:

Hope this works, y'all, something is very wrong here.

This is supposed to be Bing, Frank, and other famous performers:
