Can anyone please help me with these clues, if l put in the answer to 74a putrify as ROT and the answer to 79a armed hostilities as WAR that leaves me with STRRK FOR 71d yearling heifer, can anybody please help, much obliged ttfn.

I have a feeling that it should be STEER, and so maybe you need to try and fit the other answers around that.
I'll carry on thinking.
