I have a TV with basic cable service not including HBO. I now wish to watch a new program on HBO. Can I buy viewing rights to the program on its own or do I have to sign up for HBO? The program is on fairly late at night. Can I record it and play it another time?

@gollum,
In any system I've ever seen, you have to sign up for HBO, not for one show. I suppose you could sign up and then cancel the next day.

@Brandon9000,
our cable service had a minimum of a 30 day sign up. I used to go with HBO when the Sopranos were on. Now, our DVR service allows us to stream view these shows at a one time cost of 3.99 for the series (after the series already shows on the premium channels).
Our viewing habits are so we like this option because Im always taping the shows on DVR and we watch later or just go to ON DEMAND .

Tv has been changing so much that the sponsors must really be concerned
